Dear Executive Vice President Kriscenski,

This last semester of being Senator has been very informative. Being that it was my first semester I had a lot to learn and believed that I took the time and initiative to learn as much as I could. I also feel that, as a whole, the Senate have bonded tremendously since the first Senate meeting in September. We have been able to collaborate on many ideas and legislation that are now in effect and well be in the weeks to come.

I have also been more active in campus activity trying to get myself more out there so that I can understand what different clubs and organizations need so I can make better informed decisions. We have also recently had another meeting for the Programming and Activities Committee in which we discussed future events for the upcoming spring semester which we are very excited about.

Overall I feel that this semester was great and there are only better things to come for this upcoming spring.

Sincerely,

Senator Mahyar Kashan

Dear Executive Vice President Kriscenski,

I feel that this last month being a Senator has been extremely educational and informative. I have come to learn more techniques about how to act while being a Senator during the weekly meetings as well as outside the meetings during my office hours. I have been comfortable and confident speaking during the meetings, stating my opinions when I feel that they would benefit the conversations.

This past Friday, October 23, I sat on a budget hearing with Senator M. Khan for the Roller Skating Team which brought me some insight into how the budget hearings work. The questions that were asked and how the clubs had to give that information were very enlightening. I realized how much work Treasurer Anderson and the rest of the Budget Committee actually have to do and appreciate it much more.

Also I felt that together all of the Senators have become a lot closer and are now beginning to corroborate with each other on a more consistent basis. I feel that this is good for the Undergraduate Student Government because if all of the Senators work together, we can accomplish much more this semester and improve for the following years to come. Again, overall I feel that this month has been very productive and I’m enjoying my role as Senator.

Sincerely,

Senator Mahyar Kashan

My first few weeks as a Senator have been very enlightening. Being that I’m a new Senator and have to find my way around, I think that I have done a good job so far. I have met and become close with most of the other Senators as well as most of you on the Executive Council. I feel that it is important and crucial for the Senators to collaborate on many of the ideas during the Senate meetings as well as outside of them during our office hours.
I have also taken it upon myself to start becoming more active around campus and meeting other people and organizations so that I can make more informed decisions. Last night I attended the Wolfstock King and Queen Contest as well as SASA’s speed dating to try and get more involved in activities and events of other clubs that I am not involved in. Also we had our first committee meeting for Programming and Activities with Senators T. Abrishamian, A. Benelyahoo, and C. McCarthy last week, where Senator McCarthy was designated as Vice President and I was designated as President.
Overall I feel that this month has been very productive and I am beginning to understand my roles as a Senator in the USG.
