We arrived a bit late today, and received the whole intro to the topic of changing the Diversified Education Curriculum (DEC). Dr. Tom Hemmick is the Chair of the committee that is working to make a reccomendation on changing the system. He pointed out that this is the perfect time for student input in the process, because his committee (most of which is present this weekend) has recently completed their research into the topic.
After a lavish dinner in this wonderful mansion located in beautiful Glen Cove, we started a dialogue with a student panel. That discussion has evolved from an abstract summary of the purpose of the DEC, to some debate over the logistics of the system, perhaps a bit too early. It’s starting to become clear who has certain agendas here. I’ll try to keep this updated as I listen to people mull over these ideas in a long-winded and round-about way.
