Dear Senators (USG Officers),
The month of October was dedicated to reforming the structure and the procedures of SSC. This I could not have done without your help; on that note, I would like to thank you.
I have spent the beginning of this month by working closely with our VP of Communication to change the SSC application. The application has been up on the USG site since Oct. 3rd and I have been updating it ever since. This application is almost identical to the procedures of the line budget application. This will familiarize new clubs with what they would have to do when they are approved for a USG line budget. Also this online application is another effort to go green and the reduce use of paper.
The first three weeks of October I have spent interviewing applicants. With the help of the VP of Communication office, I have been able to build the Special Service Council. The office have been great at advertising the open positions and I was able to receive a number of applicants (the most by far this year).
Having a full council I have been able to hold my meetings and by doing so I have exhausted the funds for this semester (Fall ‘09). On that note, I have requested for more funds through the Fall revisions in order aid active and passionate students in their club/organizational missions. I hope to receive additional funds as soon as possible because they would not be fully able to complete their mission without our help.
Lastly I have been able to revise the SSC bylaws. Under our new bylaws the funding policies will change greatly. Clubs will now be allowed to hold more than one big event which was not possible before. This gives them more ability to promote their club/organization on campus to the student body. The system would allow clubs to operate more closely to the ones on line budget and prove themselves to SSC as to why they deserve and belong in line budget. Their volume of events would tell the council how they have benefited the campus and how far they have carried out their mission statement.
Once again my humble thanks.
