Senate Report

My first month as a senator has been a great experience.  I completed all my office hours and attended the weekly Senate meetings thus far. The meetings have gone smoothly so far and the senators seem to be in agreement for most of issues brought up. I really enjoyed meeting all the senators, and I think we have a great group this year. During the last meeting, the standing committees were announced. I am part of the Committee of Programming and Activities. We held a meeting after our last senate meeting and elected our Chair and Vice Chair. We are planning to set up a meeting next week to further organize our committee and figure out future plans.

During my office hours, I was available to speak to anyone that had any questions or wanted to bring up any issues. During the first few weeks the office as been quiet, but I am looking forward to future projects and issues we will be working on and voting on as senators. I also used the time to get more familiar with the constitution and the other bylaws in the Senator Handbook. I am becoming more comfortable with my role as a senator and my responsibilities. I am getting ready for a busy and exciting semester.
