2.0 Announcements

3.0 Minutes from 3/5/09
One correction needed on 3rd page. USCàUSG. Sen. Benelyahoo made a motion to amend (see previous) and approve the minutes from 3/5/09. No debate. A vote was taken by voice. Motion #1 carried.
Sen. Haq arrived at 7:17. Sen. Brady arrived at 7:18
4.0 Executive Council Reports
Report made by VP of Communications Sucheki on upcoming Battle of the Bands. A brief discussion was held.
Junior Class Representative Jordan Cushner made a report. No questions or discussion.
5.0 Agency Chair Reports
No agency chairs present to make reports at this time.
6.0 SSC Approvals
Since no one was present to make a presentation, Executive VP Malieckal moved to Open Agenda at 7:22.
Approvals for line budget presented by SSC Chair Mashouf. Bowling, pre-nursing, GLS. Sen. Kent made a motion to approval all three clubs for line budget. Seconded. No debate. Motion #2 carried 18-0-1
Spring 2009 Budget for Stony Brook Pre-law society presented by Sen. Haq. A lengthy discussion was held. Price for dinner corrected from $649.50 à $618.75. Sen. Kent made a motion to approve with removal of $35 for and corrected dinner price of $618.75 for a total of $723.75. More discussion held. Motion seconded by Sen. Harounian. More discussion held. Sen. Bose left at 7:56. Sen. Graber called the question. A vote was taken and greater than 2/3 of senators agreed. Debate ended and a vote was taken. Motion #3 carried 16-0-3.
Craft Clubs budget request was discussed. Sen. Kent made a motion to approve the Craft Clubs budget for $348. Seconded. A brief discussion was held. A vote was taken. Motion #4 carried 19-0-0. At 8:02 Open Agenda was resumed.
7.0 Open Agenda
A discussion was held on clubs and their responsiveness to VP Hilton.
Sen. Kriscenski: Sen. Regis is planning a second budget protest for week following spring break, involving travel to Albany and students from other schools.
Open agenda suspended to return to SSC approval at 7:28
Resumed Open Agenda
Sen. Kent spoke of limited access to playing fields for club sports and the Department of Athletics not allowing use of vacant fields. A discussion was held.
Sen. Kent spoke about Club Ice Hockey and their petition to build a ice rink on campus.
Pres. Akita: working on bus to Ronkonkoma Train station to facilitate travel for commuter students. He is also working on free train ride for students from Stony Brook to Port Jefferson with student ID.
VP of Communications Sucheki: Will present new USG logo choices next week for senate review.
Andy from NYPIRG: spoke about statewide training weekend of April 4.
Executive VP Malieckal encouraged senators to patronize the restaurants/stores on campus to help the University. The profits are used for the benefit of the university.
